FROM THE ARCHIVE

Digital transformation lives between departments.

A better screen cannot repair a process whose ownership is unclear.

Retrospective editionPrepared for this archive on The edition date identifies its place in the weekly series.

Illustrative artwork

The most revealing part of a digital transformation programme is often the handoff. Information leaves one team, waits in a queue, and arrives somewhere else without its full context. I believe that is where leaders should spend more time before approving another application.

Follow one real request

Choose a service request and follow it from beginning to end. Record where someone retypes information, asks for clarification, or waits for permission. A new portal may improve the first interaction while leaving every internal delay intact. Looking at the whole journey prevents a department from declaring success by transferring its workload downstream.

Agree on the meaning of done

An operations team, a technology team, and a finance team may use the same word for different stages of completion. A request can be technically processed yet remain unresolved for the person who raised it. I want project teams to define completion together, including the evidence required, the responsible owner, and the communication the requester should receive.

Modernize in steps that people can absorb

My preference is to simplify a selected handoff, connect the necessary information, and test the revised process with real users. Training and support belong in that change from the beginning. Genellipse’s role in a partnership is to help connect these decisions across disciplines. A useful review asks whether the complete service became clearer and faster, rather than whether one team received a more attractive dashboard.

How Genellipse can help
