03 / WHERE AI FITS

Intelligence above the APIs.
Control at every boundary.

A Genellipse integration pattern for Cortex AI OS and MCP. Agents receive a bounded toolset; bank APIs retain their authorization and consent checks. The model does not become the authority to move money.

OPEN BANKING WITH AN OPERATING MODEL

From an API strategy
to a service people can use.

Banking transformation spans customer experience, established systems, partner relationships and the responsibilities of a regulated institution. Genellipse brings process design, engineering, data, AI and security together around a practical implementation.

We help define what should be exposed, who may use it, how it should behave and who owns the result. Start with a valuable journey, validate its controls and expand with evidence.

01

Strategy & architecture

Define the commercial and customer journeys, participant roles, target markets and integration boundaries. Inventory the estate and prioritize interfaces by value, risk and readiness.

02

API engineering & lifecycle

Design OpenAPI contracts, resource models, pagination, versioning and predictable errors. Implement gateway policies, contract testing, safe retries and idempotency for relevant state-changing operations.

03

Legacy & batch integration

Connect supported core interfaces, adapters, files and events. Account for batch cut-offs, stale data, dependencies and vendor limits. Reconcile parallel runs before retiring an existing path.

04

Consent & partner experience

Build purpose-specific authorization journeys, permission dashboards and revocation handling. Define partner registration, sandbox testing and approval gates appropriate to the target ecosystem.

05

Agentic AI & MCP engineering

Package approved API operations as narrow tools. Define agents, solution packs and applications around specific tasks, with evaluations, permission boundaries, human approvals and operational ownership.

06

Security, resilience & operations

Threat-model the full journey, test access boundaries and recovery, and configure monitoring. Deliver key and certificate lifecycle procedures, incident runbooks, support responsibilities and release controls.

EIGHT PRACTICAL BANKING JOURNEYS

Useful AI starts with useful work.

Explore illustrative workflows, the controls they need and the measures that make progress visible. These examples describe potential engagement scopes.

Account servicing

Answer with the right account context.

The business issue

Service teams navigate multiple screens to explain transactions, fees or account status.

How Genellipse can help

An approved assistant retrieves permitted account and transaction data, prepares a source-linked explanation and routes disputed or incomplete information to the right team.

  1. 01Identify the customer
  2. 02Check scope and consent
  3. 03Retrieve account evidence
  4. 04Prepare the explanation
  5. 05Resolve or escalate

Control and accountability

Identity and record-level access are checked before retrieval. The assistant cannot change account entitlements or move money.

Measures of progress

Handling time, first-contact resolution, correction rate and unauthorized-access test results.

SECURITY IS PART OF THE DESIGN

Every connection
has a responsibility.

Genellipse works with your security, risk and engineering teams to turn controls into implementation requirements, test evidence and operating procedures.

01

Authorize each boundary

Distinguish customer consent, client authentication, user authority and account-level access. Apply the required OAuth and financial-grade profile, including sender-constrained tokens where the profile requires them.

02

Protect sensitive information

Minimize payloads and model context. Design encryption, secret handling, key rotation, masking, residency and retention around the bank’s data classification and approved providers.

03

Constrain agents and tools

Allowlist tools and destinations, validate schemas and keep credentials outside prompts. Treat documents and tool responses as untrusted. Test prompt injection, data leakage and attempts to bypass approval.

04

Protect money-moving actions

Keep transaction authorization outside the model. Enforce limits, separation of duties and customer confirmation where required. Handle idempotency, replay, status uncertainty and reconciliation explicitly.

05

Design for failure

Use timeouts, circuit breakers and bounded retries appropriate to the operation. Make stale or incomplete data visible. Test dependency outages, recovery, revocation and operational fallback.

06

Keep evidence connected

Correlate the initiating identity, consent reference, API calls, agent version, source evidence, approvals and outcome. Redact sensitive logs and apply access and retention controls.

Standards are selected for the ecosystem.

UK Open Banking’s published security profile and the OpenID Foundation’s FAPI 2.0 specification are distinct implementation references. Confirm the required profile, version and conformance process for each market. MCP authorization complements these boundaries; it does not replace banking consent or payment authorization.

THE GENELLIPSE ECOSYSTEM

Connect capabilities
around the banking journey.

We assess product and connector fit alongside your existing tools. The agreed scope defines available configurations, integration work and operating responsibilities.

PARTNERSHIP THROUGH IMPLEMENTATION

A focused MVP within six weeks.

Agree one workflow, selected interfaces and clear acceptance criteria. The schedule begins when access, test environments and critical dependencies are ready. Wider rollout follows a separate plan.

  1. 01

    Discover & agree

Weeks 1–2: confirm the journey, legal and operating context, interfaces, consent design, baseline and acceptance criteria.

    Approved scope and readiness
  2. 02

    Connect & configure

Weeks 2–4: implement the selected APIs and adapters, connect permitted tools and configure workflow permissions in a representative environment.

    Contract and integration tests
  3. 03

    Validate & rehearse

Weeks 3–5: exercise normal paths, expired consent, duplicate requests, model errors, failed dependencies and recovery.

    Business and security acceptance
  4. 04

    Release & hand over

Weeks 5–6: complete the agreed MVP release, monitoring, runbooks and training. Wider rollout follows the bank’s approval and change process.

    Named owners and rollout decision

What your team receives

  • Architecture, interface inventory and API contracts
  • Selected integrations and a reviewable banking workflow
  • Consent, tool permissions and approval design
  • Evaluation, reconciliation and recovery evidence
  • Monitoring, runbooks and operational handover

What we agree together

Your bank nominates business, engineering, risk and security owners; provides permitted test access and representative data; and approves acceptance and change decisions. Genellipse coordinates delivery with named responsibilities and regular evidence-based reviews.

External approvals, unsupported connectors and broader core migrations are planned explicitly. A full Open Banking program can extend beyond the first MVP.

MAKE THE BUSINESS CASE TESTABLE

Model the opportunity.
Then measure the result.

This illustrative capacity model uses your assumptions. It is not a Genellipse performance claim, price quote or guaranteed saving.

ILLUSTRATIVE ANNUAL OPPORTUNITY

220,000Net capacity value, in your currency
Monthly hours released
667
Annual gross capacity value
280,000
Annualized cost included
60,000

Capacity value is not automatically cash saved. Include integration, licensing, model usage, review, change management and support in the cost assumption. Confirm whether released time can be redeployed or expenditure avoided.

Calculation: monthly cases × minutes reduced ÷ 60 × hourly cost × 12, less annualized implementation and running cost. Negative time reductions are treated as zero capacity released.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Details that help
you decide.

Explore the scope, practical considerations, and a useful starting point for your team.

Do we have to replace our core banking system?

Not necessarily. We first assess supported interfaces, batch processes, vendor permissions and operational constraints. A phased API layer can extend a viable core; replacement is considered where controls, economics or technical limits make extension unsuitable.

How do Open Banking, OpenAPI and MCP differ?

Open Banking concerns permissioned banking data and services within a defined ecosystem. OpenAPI describes HTTP API contracts. MCP lets compatible AI applications discover and use exposed tools and resources. They can work together, but none substitutes for the bank’s authorization and transaction controls.

Can we use our existing AI provider or bring our own agents?

Yes, the design can evaluate existing models and compatible agents alongside Cortex AI OS. Confirm tool support, identity propagation, data handling, deployment constraints and evaluation evidence before approving an integration. An OpenAI model is one possible provider choice, not a requirement for Open Banking.

Will an AI agent be able to initiate payments?

Only within an explicitly approved architecture and participant role. Separate recommendation from execution. Any money-moving capability needs the applicable customer and bank authorization, transaction limits, access controls and reconciliation. The initial MVP can remain read-only.

Does MCP make a banking integration secure automatically?

No. MCP needs a secure implementation, narrowly scoped tools and validated authorization. Banking APIs must independently enforce their own permissions. Do not pass an incoming MCP access token unchanged to a downstream banking API; use the appropriate downstream authorization flow.

Which countries and standards does the service cover?

Discovery identifies the target market, participant role and applicable API, security and customer-experience requirements. UK Open Banking, European frameworks and other market ecosystems differ. We agree the relevant profiles, versions and conformance work rather than assuming one implementation qualifies everywhere.

What can be delivered within six weeks?

A focused MVP for one agreed journey, such as a read-only servicing assistant or a reconciliation investigation flow, with selected interfaces, validation evidence and an operating handover. Access, test environments, owners and dependencies must be ready. A full banking transformation or external authorization can require a longer program.

How will we demonstrate value?

Establish a baseline for the chosen workflow, then compare handling time, exceptions, quality and total operating cost. Include implementation, integration, licensing, model usage, human review and support. Publish measured results only after the bank approves the evidence.
