THE BUSINESS CONTEXT

Build around the problem worth solving.

Growth, modernization, and AI adoption create decisions that cannot wait for a full-time executive appointment. A fractional Chief Technology Officer works with your leadership and engineering teams on a defined mandate and cadence. Genellipse can provide direction across architecture, engineering delivery, technical risk, and team development, with clear decision rights and an approach that fits your existing organization.

  • Founders and CEOs
  • Growing enterprises
  • Engineering and product leaders

AREAS OF WORK

From requirements to useful capability.

01

Architecture and technical direction

Review applications, interfaces, data flows, cloud choices, and technical debt. Establish architecture principles and a sequenced roadmap that reflects business priorities, security needs, and the capacity of your team.

02

Engineering leadership and delivery

Introduce practical planning, technical review, release criteria, and operational ownership. Coach engineering leads, identify capability gaps, and clarify how internal teams and delivery partners work together.

03

AI, data, and product decisions

Evaluate build, buy, and integration options before committing resources. Define where AI and data capabilities can improve a product or workflow, with evaluation, human oversight, and support responsibilities built into the plan.

SHAPE THE ENGAGEMENT

A scope you can review.

The scope can include the following. Agree the priorities, responsibilities, and acceptance criteria around your specific environment.

  • Technology assessment and prioritized risk register
  • Architecture principles and technical decision records
  • Engineering roadmap with ownership and dependencies
  • Delivery scorecard, leadership cadence, and handover plan

ILLUSTRATIVE ENGAGEMENT

What this could look like.

A growing insurance technology business needs to connect a new digital service to its policy administration environment. A Genellipse fractional CTO can assess the architecture, guide interface decisions, coach the engineering lead, and oversee a bounded MVP while the client retains product, budget, and release authority.

Illustrative scope, not a customer case study or a promised outcome.

Your team’s role

Appoint an executive sponsor and product owner, provide appropriate access to technical documentation and teams, and agree which decisions the fractional CTO can make. Confirm availability, escalation routes, budget authority, and responsibilities for day-to-day operations.

An MVP within 6 weeks

Begin with a focused assessment and roadmap, then target a defined MVP within 6 weeks where delivery is in scope and dependencies are ready. An ongoing leadership engagement follows an agreed cadence and can continue beyond the initial MVP.

How Genellipse products fit

The service starts with your existing estate and business needs. Cortex AI, GeneData, GeneSecure, and other Genellipse products may be evaluated where relevant; selecting a Genellipse product is not a condition of the engagement.

FROM PRIORITY TO PRACTICE

A clear path
through the work.

Start with an agreed scope. Connect business decisions, implementation, and the people who will own the result.

01

Discover & define

Agree the business problem, users, current baseline, and constraints. Identify the systems, information, and owners needed for a useful first scope.

02

Design & validate

Map the workflow, integration, and controls. Test the proposed approach with representative inputs and agree how the team will judge the result.

03

Build & introduce

Deliver the agreed capability in manageable increments. Include user feedback, documentation, training, and the decisions needed for a controlled rollout.

04

Operate & improve

Review adoption, reliability, quality, and cost against the baseline. Refine the workflow and decide what to expand using evidence from actual use.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Details that help
you decide.

Explore the scope, practical considerations, and a useful starting point for your team.

What does a fractional CTO do?

A fractional CTO provides senior technology leadership for an agreed portion of time and a defined scope. The engagement can cover architecture, engineering effectiveness, technical priorities, and leadership coaching. Availability and decision authority are documented before work begins.

Can you work alongside our existing technology leaders?

Yes. Genellipse can complement an existing CTO, engineering lead, or delivery partner, or support a transition while a permanent leader is recruited. Agree responsibilities so the team has a clear source of direction.

How is this different from CIO Advisory?

Fractional CTO work focuses on technology architecture, engineering execution, product delivery, and technical leadership. CIO Advisory focuses on enterprise technology strategy, investment priorities, operating models, and executive oversight. The two services can be coordinated under a shared mandate.

Does the engagement include software delivery?

Leadership and engineering delivery are scoped separately. If an MVP is included, agree the delivery team, budget, access, acceptance criteria, and support arrangements. Fractional leadership alone does not imply a staffed development team or continuous operational coverage.
