Connected reading paths that build a deeper argument across economics, governance and service performance.
03 / Featured Series
A single question. Multiple perspectives.
Follow curated reading paths across industries. Each series develops a connected argument while making the limits of each comparison explicit.
Four connected perspectives
Follow value beyond the departmental boundary.
A four-part reading path on coordination cost, insurance administration, retail contribution and AI unit economics. Examine the denominator, the displaced work and the evidence needed before calling an improvement a saving.
Where does apparent efficiency become actual business value?
A cheap inference can produce an expensive service when retries, human review and support accumulate.
Synthesis / a working discussion guide
Bring the argument into the room.
Read the four perspectives in order, then compare the decision each makes possible. The measures have different units and should not be combined into a cross-industry score.
Questions and decision implications across this series
Can the receiving team accept the result without rebuilding the evidence?
Fund the smallest intervention that produces accepted outcomes with lower total effort. Treat hours as capacity until an owner identifies the work they will absorb or a cost that can actually be removed.
Is duplicated effort caused by missing evidence or incompatible business meaning?
Agree a reconciled end state before automating corrections. Scale only when receiving owners accept the evidence and the improvement survives the cost of exceptions, historical conversion and ongoing reconciliation.
Does the next order improve contribution after its full service burden?
Set a contribution threshold for the affected cohort and test service consequences alongside margin. Do not approve growth from gross sales alone or infer net profit from contribution before fixed overhead.
Does a cheaper model produce a cheaper accepted outcome?
Set a break-even review allowance before changing the route. In this example, added cost above 0.06 erases the inference saving. Require equivalent acceptance quality and include the operating cost of evaluating and maintaining the alternative.
Leave the discussion with three commitments.
A decision owner who can accept the outcome.
A baseline that includes displaced work and exceptions.
A condition that would change or stop the investment.
A business can automate every department and still pay heavily for the handoffs between them. Investment decisions should examine the cost of reconciling meaning across the whole service.

AI infrastructure has an energy dependency
The IEA examines the relationship between AI and energy demand and supply. For enterprise leaders, infrastructure planning belongs in the AI investment discussion alongside model capability.
The decision to examine
Ask whether power, location, resilience and total operating cost are represented in the deployment options.
The FDA draft addresses AI used to support regulatory decisions for drugs and biological products. It remains draft guidance, not a general product approval.
The decision to examine
Define the exact decision an AI output will support before designing its evaluation and review process.
DTCC describes allocation, confirmation and matching as connected post-trade capabilities. A business workflow must still distinguish these activities from final settlement.
The decision to examine
Check where your systems treat a transmitted instruction as a completed business outcome.
Insights combines original Genellipse analysis, named primary sources and published project accounts. Numerical scenarios are illustrative, not client results or industry benchmarks. Our graphics distinguish conceptual operating models from measured data. Each report makes its assumptions, trade-offs and proposed tests visible.
