AI progress makes evaluation more important.
Reading the 2026 AI Index through the lens of a business decision.

Stanford HAI’s 2026 AI Index describes advancing capabilities alongside uneven performance and challenges in responsible AI. I read that combination as a reason to be both ambitious and precise. A broad improvement in AI does not settle whether a particular workflow is ready for an organization.
Translate a headline into a local question
A strong result on a benchmark can tell us something useful about a system. Our business question is narrower: how does it perform on the language, documents, exceptions, and working conditions of this task? I would ask the team to show representative examples and explain how the evaluation set relates to actual use.
Measure the whole result
Accuracy matters, but so do response time, the cost of review, missing information, and the ability to recover from an error. A system that gives a persuasive answer quickly may still require substantial effort to verify. The evaluation should make that effort visible rather than treating it as someone else’s problem.
Keep evidence current
A platform can change, a process can change, and the information available to a team can change. An evaluation therefore needs an owner and a reason to be repeated. My preference is a small, understandable set of checks tied to the business purpose. The more capable the technology becomes, the more valuable it is to be clear about the specific job we are asking it to do.
How Genellipse can help
Genellipse can help translate a broad AI opportunity into a task-specific evaluation. Together with your domain experts, we can define representative cases, acceptable outputs, review needs, and operational measures. Cortex AI’s evaluation and oversight capabilities can be assessed where appropriate, with the platform choice guided by the requirements of the business workflow.
