A migration is not complete when the records arrive

Reconcile meaning, relationships and business behavior before switching over.

UNDERSTAND THE CHALLENGE

The business issue

Copying rows into a modern platform is only part of a migration. Organizations also need to preserve relationships, historical meaning and the ability to explain why a record differs from its source.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

01

Choose business-level acceptance checks

Reconcile totals, key relationships and representative transactions in addition to technical counts. Select difficult cases deliberately: reversals, backdated changes, inactive records and unusual product features. A migration team should know which differences are tolerable, which need explanation and which block release.

02

Preserve the evidence trail

Version mappings and transformations, and retain source identifiers where appropriate. Record exceptions without rewriting the source history to make reports agree. Business owners should approve the interpretation of legacy fields, particularly when documentation is incomplete or old system behavior contains unwritten rules.

03

Plan the period of coexistence

Decide which system is authoritative for each operation during transition. Control updates, synchronization and late corrections. Rehearse rollback and the treatment of transactions created after cutover. A fallback that restores yesterday’s files but loses today’s customer activity is not a complete recovery plan.

FROM DISCUSSION TO ACTION

A sequence your team can use

Select each stage to explore the proposed action. Adapt the sequence and controls to your business context.

How Genellipse can help

GeneData can support controlled transformation and reconciliation while Genellipse architects design coexistence with legacy applications. We can use Cortex AI to assist documentation comparison, with ambiguous mappings referred to qualified business reviewers.

Genellipse can connect governed data pipelines through GeneData, analytical views through GeneAnalytics and controlled workflow assistance through Cortex AI. We agree the source systems, access boundaries and acceptance checks with your team. Models and dashboards do not replace ownership of definitions or responsibility for business decisions.
